There are more than 130 million books in the world as of now and this number is increasing every second. Hi, I am Ujjwal Chaturvedi and today I was reading a book in the morning and suddenly a question pop-up in my mind, and the question was " What are the most read books in the world? ".

I am a very curious person so I started searching on the web about this and found some surprising names that are topping the list of most-read books in the world so, I thought let's share it with my friends here on Normal Bookworm.


1. Holy Bible - 3.9 Billion copies sold

The reason behind the Bible topping the list is there are 2.3 Billion people are Christian in the world and many people from Hinduism and Islam also read and appreciate the Bible.

2. Quotations from Chairman Mao - 820 Million copies sold

Chairman Mao is very popular in China and we all know China is the most populated country in the world and with 820 million sold copies, this book deserves to be in this list.

3. Harry Potter Series - 400 Million copies sold

Harry Potter is one of the most popular book series in the world and also famous for their movies. J.K. Rowling author of Harry Potter became the first author billionaire after publishing harry potter.

4. The Lord of The Rings - 103 Million copies sold

This is one of the best work of Fantasy Literature, also converted into major motion pictures. These books have very high ratings on Goodreads and also its movies have gotten 8+ ratings on IMDB.

5. Think and Grow Rich - 100 Million copies sold

This book was the first book that I read and after that everything changed in my life, I started reading more, I started making friends, I started thinking positive. Napoleon Hill spent 25 years of his life meeting great people and researching on success then he wrote this masterpiece. Everyone should at least read it once.

6. The Chariot of Gods - 67 Million copies sold

This book is very controversial because in this book its author gives evidence that Gods maybe aliens and this theory makes it popular among readers. 

7. The Alchemist - 65 Million copies sold

This book teaches us so many values and lessons that no one would tell us. The story is very interesting and easy to read, My Instagram feed is full of Alchemist images and reviews.  

8. The Da Vinci Code - 57 Million copies sold 

This book is written by Dan Brown and that is enough to make it a best seller because Dan Brown is so popular among bookworms and his books are appreciated worldwide, well I haven't read it personally but reviews are saying it is dope. 

9. The Twilight Saga - 43 Million copies sold 

I heard mixed reviews about this book but they cannot stop it from being sold. Marketing is marketing whether it's negative or positive.

10. Gone with the Wind - 33 Million copies sold

This is an American romance novel which was released on 30 June 1939, also converted into a major motion picture. I don't read romance novel so, sorry I don't know much about it, but reviews are good so you can read it.

11. Diary of Anne Frank - 27 Million copies sold

My friends are recommending this book to me from so long time and they were saying that this book is written like diary entries and that's what makes it special. This book is cheap and beginners can read it.
